Strategic Objectives

The SAFIPA programme draws its strategic intent from the National ICT, R&D and Innovation strategy which overall purpose is to create an enabling framework for the advancement of each of these disciplines, in a systematic manner within the context of the National R&D Strategy.

It has the following outcomes:

  • Achieving global leadership in identified key scientific and technological domains;
  • Developing multi-disciplinary technologies, skills and methodologies to address areas of market neglect, especially to eradicate the digital divide;
  • Creating an indigenous ICT sector that is developed, growing, innovative and competitive; and
  • Enabling the smart proliferation of ICT within other sectors of the economy.

This is the final edition of the SAFIPA newsletter. The month of November 2011, marks the conclusion of this dynamic initiative.



This newsletter pays tribute to the SAFIPA programme in the form of commentary and insights gathered during the very successful SAFIPA 2011 Conference. Project partners from the MFA, DST and CSIR Meraka Insitute applaud the programme. And SAFIPA supported projects have a final opportunity to showcase their innovations and processes.
