Launch Edition
Welcome to the first issue of the South Africa Finland Knowledge Partnership on ICT (SAFIPA) newsletter which we hope will serve as an extension of our commitment to local initiatives that innovate, research and implement ICT solutions for regional challenges.
The SAFIPA newsletter will be distributed each quarter for the next 12 months and we welcome information, news or views – that you believe would benefit the wider SAFIPA community – for inclusion in the newsletter. So, if you are a member of a project team, a funding partner or even a beneficiary of one of the SAFIPA-sponsored projects, please feel free to contact us with your ideas. This newsletter is for you, about you! Please contact our editorial team at The African Commons Project on info@africancommons.org.
Because the SAFIPA initiative is centred around promoting and supporting local projects, each issue will include a dedicated section for project team members to share, showcase and discuss their project’s goals and successes. We hope that this, in turn, will provoke critical thinking and discussion around the variety of issues in which projects are involved. Linking to this will be a segment that will focus on a hot topic, or a methodology that is pivotal to the ICT work being undertaken in the global South, or an international issue that warrants deeper investigation.
Our hope is that in reading this newsletter, the flames of innovation will be kindled, and we look forward to hearing from you in the coming months.
